See how tough we look?! |
Okay, that may be a bit of a stretch, but this past weekend at Warrior Dash really expanded my view of what I'm capable of! I joked with Shauna that after the race, I'd probably look at every scenario in life like a warrior would and I was surprised that there actually was some truth to that. Don't get me wrong, I don't think that I can do things that other people can't. In fact, what stuck with me is that I can do the same things that other people can! Ha that sounds like such a boring lesson to learn, but it was a big one.
If you get a chance, you should sign up for a warrior dash. Whether you're athletic or not, it is so much fun!
I finished in 43:04.85. Overall I finished # 3,879 out of 7,393 runners and # 241 out of 483 in the female age group of 20-24. That means I whooped more butt than I thought I would : ) I felt victorious when people around me started walking before me because I was sure I'd be one of the first to have to catch my breath. After that, everything was just a bonus.
I'm so glad I chose this to be my first race, it was fun and exciting and everything I wanted it to be. Heck, I jumped over fire; I've never been able to say that before! And most of all, I'm glad I had Jakub by my side every step of the way. Our friends have signed up for the one in Tulsa and we may be joining them. This is definitely a race we'd like to do every year.
And see, I'm still the sweet, happy person I always was:
